How to Turn Your Chatbook into a Junk Journal (+ Free Printable Pages)

Published 10/23/26

Junk journal with us

Your Chatbook already holds your favorite photos. With a few blank pages and some scraps you’ve saved, it can also become a junk journal: a book you keep adding to with ticket stubs, notes, pressed flowers and doodles.

What’s a junk journal?

A junk journal is a scrapbook-diary hybrid made from everyday things you’d usually throw away, like receipts, wrappers, postcards, tags and old book pages. It doesn’t have rules and it isn’t meant to look perfect. The mess is part of the charm.

Step 1: Add blank pages to your Chatbook

When you build your book, add a few blank pages between your photos. Put them wherever you’ll have more to say: after a vacation, around a birthday, or at the end of each month. You can do this by tapping the plus sign to add a text page.

Tip: Leave a blank page right next to a photo so you have room to tuck in the ticket, map or note that goes with that day.

Step 2: Download our free journal pages

Want a starting point? We made a set of free printable pages to go with your book, including some cute stripes, doilies, floral motifs, and more!

Download the pages below:

Print them, trim to size, and glue or tape them right onto your blank pages.

Step 3: Start collecting (and layering)

Once your book arrives, fill it up:

  • Tape in tickets, receipts and handwritten notes
  • Use washi tape, stickers and stamps
  • Add little pockets or envelopes for keepsakes
  • Write the story behind the photo: who was there, what you ate, what made you laugh
Make it yours

A junk journal is never really finished, so keep adding to it as life happens. When you’ve filled it, start the next one.

Share your creations with us using by tagging us on Instagram @Chatbooks. We’d love to see how you make it your own!
