You've started a subscription photo book and now, you want to know how it works. Whether you opted for a Monthly Minis or Monthbooks subscription—went hardcover or softcover, blush ombre or Rifle Paper Co.—here's everything you need to know about your subscription book credits.

There are two types of credits you may receive as a Chatbooks customer. First, is a general credit, typically issued for returns, refunds, or as part of gift cards. In addition, as a subscriber, you'll receive Subscription Book credits. For subscribers, one credit is equivalent to one photo book (within your subscription plan).

For example, if you signed up for a monthly hardcover Monthbooks subscription, one credit is equal to one hardcover Monthbook.

Each time your Subscription payment is processed, a corresponding credit will be generated for the photo book plan you're being charged for. This credit allows you to craft and print your Subscription Chatbook at your convenience anytime within the following 13 months, if you have an active subscription.

Why are my subscription credits expiring?

Subscription credits have an expiration date to encourage regular usage (don't forget to print your books!) and maintain service quality for all subscribers. We want your books to be in your family's hands, and in your home for you to enjoy!

When will my credits expire?

Credits expire 13 months from the Subscription Credit charge date.

Can I extend the credit expiration date?

Sometimes you just need more time, no worries! Once you're within 29 days of your expiration date, you'll see an option in the Chatbooks app to extend the expiration date by 30 days.

Note: This does NOT apply to canceled subscriptions.

How can I use my remaining credits?

What happens if I don't use my credits before they expire?

Unused credits will expire on the specified date. Once expired, these credits are no longer available to use.

Can I get a refund for expired credits?

Unfortunately, we're unable to provide refunds for expired credits as per our subscription terms.

How do I check my credit balance?

If you're not sure how many credits you have, you can easily check by watching this video.

Can I transfer my credits to someone else?

Unfortunately, credits are non-transferable and can only be used within your own account.

If I cancel my Subscription, can I still use my credit?

You'll have 90 days to use subscription book credits and print your Chatbooks before your credits expire. We encourage you to use all of your credit before canceling your Subscription.

If I reactivate my Subscription, what happens to my expiring and/or expired credits?

When you reactivate your Subscription, we will reactivate expiring/expired book credits from the original book credit purchase date. This applies to credits whether they have already expired after the 90-day window or not.

Why wasn't I notified before my credits expired?

We're committed to delivering notifications promptly via email and in the Chatbooks mobile and web apps. However, some messages may land in your junk/spam folder.
