“Happy Father’s Day! Thank you for teaching me everything you know (and don’t know), plus all that other stuff that I forgot.”

Advice

Recycling cardboard, mowing the lawn and yelling on the sidelines of your games… dad has a lot of responsibilities! All jokes aside, between all the laughter and advice (and even though dad says he doesn’t want anything), Father’s Day is your opportunity to show him how much you appreciate all of his love. In addition to gifting him some pretty rad Father’s Day coupons, finding the right thing to say in his card or to add to his Father’s Day photo book (using captions or text pages) can be hard.

If you’re not sure what to write in your Father’s Day card for your inspiring father figure, try sprinkling in some dad jokes, sentimental messages or Bible verses. (Don’t forget to give his photo book a title that’ll pull at his heartstrings or make him belly laugh!) Whether it’s for your husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather or another father figure in your life, here’s what to write in a Father’s Day card.

"If a child refuses to nap, are they guilty of resisting a rest?"

"Did you hear about the guy who invented the knock-knock joke? He won the 'no-bell' prize."

"When does a joke become a dad joke? When it becomes apparent."

“Why do dads feel the need to tell such bad jokes? They just want to help you become a groan up.”

"It's inappropriate to make a 'dad joke' if you're not a dad. It's a faux pa."

Dad, nobody can grill steaks like you. (Even when we all want a different temperature.) You’re as good for our taste buds as you are to your family.

Thank you for always making time to come to my tea parties, for letting me put barrettes in your hair and lipstick on your face. You’ve always made me the happiest kid in the world.

Dad, you're one of my favorite parents. And I mean that sincerely.

I’m so glad we have this one day to celebrate you, dad. Because tomorrow it’s back to us and our regularly scheduled drama.

We wouldn’t be here without you — literally, since you always insist on being the one to drive. Thanks for always taking us on your special detours!
