Back to School

When the kids are young, there's a special excitement around the house before the first day of school. From picking out a new lunch box and packing their book bag, to picking out that first day of school outfit—there excitement is palpable. (For you too, they'll be outta the house in just a few days!)

And even if your kids aren't excited to start a new school year, this back-to-school balloon countdown is something for them to look forward to each day.

This countdown is also the perfect photo moment to add as the cover of your next subscription photo book, or to add to a Classic Photo Book.

How to Create a Back-to-School Balloon Countdown

First, decide how many days you want your countdown to be. For example, if you're doing a 10-day countdown, you'll want to use 10 balloons.

Once you have your balloons, blow 'em up with a little air. Use school colors, your kids' fave colors, or whatever you have around the house!

Using a marker, add numbers one through ten to each balloon, then add some tape to the back of the balloon and stick them to a wall.

Each day, have your kids take scissors (or whatever instrument you prefer) and pop the balloon that corresponds with the number of days left until the first day of school. And you know how much kids love popping balloons!

Each day, you'll have the chance to take candid photos of your kids' delighting in popping balloons—and soon they'll be waking up each day asking if it's time to pop one yet. It's a great way to build their excitement—and capture it with photos.

Add those pics to your subscription photo books, or your back-to-school/new grade themed Classic Photo Book and show how your little ones started off the new school year with a smile!
