The other morning, I spent a few hours working from the kitchen table while keeping an eye on my granddaughter Mauve. She was adorable and cheerful and wonderful, but wow, so busy! Climbing on the table, unpacking drawers, pulling things out of the pantry, trying to type on my laptop—she was everywhere at once. I have to admit when my daughter got back home and I went “off duty” I breathed a sigh of relief. 

Those few hours of wild multi-tasking also brought to mind a recent Chatbooks customer interview. A mom balanced her baby on her hip while answering questions on Zoom, setting her phone down on the counter to make a bottle, and continuing the conversation without missing a beat. It was such a perfect snapshot of real parent life and it really resonated with me.

To those of you in this stage right now: thank you. We see the beautiful, important, and demanding work you’re doing, and we have so much respect for you. We know it’s not easy, but it’s the good stuff, and looking back now on that era in our lives…there is real magic in those busy days!
