Pre-wedding photos are a fairly recent trend, and they’re one we love: You get to capture this moment in your relationship and stock up on great images of yourself and your partner-to-be showing tons of personality with the backgrounds and outfits. (On your wedding day, of course, your attire and environment will be a little more limited!) Lots of couples take ‘em and post ‘em online, but what do you do with them after that? We’ve got ideas!
One note of caution: If you hired a professional photographer, talk to her about how you’d like to use the shots before you put them to use. “You’re only allowed to print through someone other than your professional photographer if she’s given you a license to print elsewhere,” says Kate Lord, a wedding photographer at Kate Lord Weddings. With your photog’s blessing, put those engagement shots to good use!
How great would a big, blown-up shot of the two of you (young, innocent, pre-wedding!) look on your mantel? You’ll always smile seeing it as the anniversaries tick by. So obtain a high-res photo, blow it up, and have it printed on a stretched canvas. You can find a tutorial on the DIY blog Poppytalk.
2.GET IT FRAMED.
A great, formal shot in an elegant frame is a great gift for your parents. Sure, they’ll soon be covering their credenzas, desks, and every other available horizontal surface in their home with wedding photos of you two, but don’t you want them to remember what you normally look like?
3. GIVE YOUR BOO A BOOK!
Surprise your future spouse with an elegant Chatbook comprising all the best shots from the day. Don’t forget to include a few outtakes that capture the fun of the shoot!
4. PUT IT TO GOOD USE.
Use a great photo of the two of you for your wedding invite or save the date. Your loved ones will be happy to get a tangible, savable portrait of their two favorite love birds!
5. SURPRISE YOUR IN-LAWS!
Here’s a surefire way to become your future parents-in-law’s favorite faux child: Surprise them with a Chatbook featuring all the great engagement photos of the two of you. They’ll love that you took the time to craft a book just for them, and of course, they’ll enjoy hanging onto those photos too—and seeing how you make their own kid’s eyes sparkle!
