Our #Momforce Facebook group is always looking for fun ways to up our holiday game with the kiddos. Sure, you can settle for just dressing in green, but for the mom who likes to celebrate the day of leprechauns and shamrocks, we’ve gathered a few hijinx to make your St. Patty’s Day a little more special.
Go for the gold. Have your kids set up leprechaun traps the night before St. Patrick’s Day using brown paper bags. While your little guys sleep, you can paint tiny glitter footprints inside the bags and poke holes through the sides. Before they wake, add green dye to your toilets and hide chocolate gold coins in their shoes—payment from the leprechauns for letting them go free!
Play Pattycakes. Buy a few condiment squeeze bottles at Walmart for $1. Make pancake batter and divide it into the different condiment bottles. You can stick to green and yellow (gold!), or go wild with all the fun colors. If you don’t mind the cleanup, your kids can make their very own edible rainbows and four leaf clover pancakes. Set out a bowl of Lucky Charms and let them press them into their tasty creations. Bonus fun: dye their milk and eggs green as well!
The luck of the Irish is at McDonald’s. Okay, so technically McDonald’s is Scottish, not Irish. But close enough for a busy mom who still wants to add a little spark to their holiday! Make it the one special day when you all get Shamrock shakes—it might be the easiest family tradition of all time!
You got this mama! You’ll love seeing your kids’ reaction to all of these fun St. Patty’s Day shenanigans come March 17th! Holidays are always so much more exciting with kids, and we hope these ideas help you create a few new traditions in your family.
