Running to the store minutes before a party to grab the sides we were supposed to bring is how most of us roll. But now we’ve got ya covered with these easy peasy summer sides from the members of our #Momforce by Chatbooks Facebook group, perfect for long days, warm nights, swimming, vacations, and barbeques. Barbeques are the summer staple gathering for friends and family. Here are a few suggestions that will give you more time for hanging with loved ones in the sun.

Fruit for the win. Cut up honeydew melon and squeeze a little lime juice on top. This is a hit every time.

A barbeque just isn’t a barbeque without a watermelon. It’s so easy to cut the top off the watermelon, create a cute zigzag, and use the watermelon as a bowl.

Or set out a big bowl of ice and water full of red delicious apples cut into slices. Put the apple slices in the big bowl and squeeze key limes (much smaller than a regular lime) into the ice water.  When you’re done squeezing the limes, add the rind to the ice and water as well.

Hit the store. Salad kits from Costco are your friend.  Costco offers salad kits that are bigger than the ones you can find at a regular grocery store and for a much better price. They have a variety of tasty options, perfect for any gathering.

Get all the fixins. Cornbread makes a great side for any summer meal. Grab a box of cornbread mix at the store and have warm cornbread baked and ready to go in less than a half hour.

Bean dip, buffalo chicken dip, hummus, and spinach artichoke dip can be served with tortilla chips or your favorite veggies—and the best part is they can be picked up pre-made from your local grocery store.  (We know grabbing a bag of carrots and a container of hummus is any mama’s favorite kinda side.)

Create a pasta salad using pasta, tomato, corn, cheese, herbs, and oil, or Italian dressing. It’s so easy and delicious. This one is always a hit with kids too.

We hope you can use some of these easy sides at your summer gatherings.  We’d love to hear of other awesome, easy, side options you may have too!
